About this page

  • Scope: customs on this site that appear on intangible cultural heritage lists - the UNESCO lists (Representative List and Urgent Safeguarding List), China's national list, and provincial lists.
  • Basis: listing data published on China's ICH portal (ihchina.cn) and the State Council notices promulgating each national batch (Guofa [2006] No.18, [2008] No.19, [2011] No.14, [2014] No.59, [2021] No.8).
  • The national list has five batches since 2006: first batch 20 May 2006 (518 items), second 7 June 2008 (510 items + 147 extensions), third 23 May 2011 (191 + 164), fourth 11 November 2014 (153 + 153), fifth 24 May 2021 (185 + 140). First inscriptions are new items; regional branches added later under the same reference number are extensions.
  • Entries marked "Details to be verified" have a batch, reference number or year still being checked against official lists; the page does not present conjecture as fact.
  • Taiwan, China is not yet covered by the national list statistics; its customs are not counted on this page.
